On this 3-day Amazon tour you will get to know the flooded forest of Cuyabeno with its characteristic flora and fauna, you will enjoy a ride in the traditional rowing canoe, you will learn about production of artisanal chocolate and coffee, and walk at night in search of animals.
Day 1. Quito - Cuyabeno
Your adventure begins at 11:00 am at the entrance of Cuyabeno Reserve, with a canoe trip down the river to our lodge (3 hours exploring the river in search of monkeys, birds, etc.). Lunch and time to relax. In the afternoon we will explore the river and the lagoon in search of more animals, you will swim and enjoy the sunset.
At night, we will have a canoe expedition in search of caimans. Dinner. For all our guests interested in learning more about the Amazon jungle, every night the naturalist guide will give different talks such as “Culture and communities, flora, fauna and conservation”.
Day 2. Hike
In the morning after breakfast, we will hike for approximately 4 hours in the primary forest accompanied by the naturalist guide who will explain about medicinal plants, frogs, insects, birds, etc. Lunch at the lodge and time to relax. After the break, you will learn about the preparation of coffee and chocolate in a traditional way.
In the afternoon, we will explore the creeks in a traditional rowing canoe and enjoy the sunset on the river and, if conditions allow, you will be able to see pink dolphins. We will return to the lodge and you will prepare for the night walk. Dinner. Tonight you will have the opportunity to taste different traditional drinks of the Amazon.
Day 3. Cuyabeno - Quito
Early in the morning we will explore the river in search of birds and you will enjoy the sunrise. After this activity we will return to the lodge to have breakfast and you will have time to organize your luggage.
We will take the canoe back and explore the Cuyabeno River for 2 hours in search of more fauna until the entrance of the reserve (11am), where you can take your transportation back home. End of the tour.
Lodge Services
In your free time at the lodge, mornings, nights or between activities you can enjoy the reading area, hammocks area by the river, our yoga place, or massages (40min/$20). “Check availability before the visit”.
