What’s different day-to-day

Differences include community visits, silent canoe rowing, and more lodge downtime.

3-Day Tour

ENJOY: A Taste of the Jungle

Travelers exploring an Amazon rainforest trail by wading through shallow jungle water.

A fast, full taste of Cuyabeno with the essential river, wildlife, and jungle moments packed into 3 days.

  • Day 1: Travel in, canoe to the lodge, settle in, first wildlife outing
  • Day 2: Forest walk, river exploration, wildlife spotting, night activity
  • Day 3: Final morning in the forest, breakfast, and return out
  • Not on this Tour: Cultural immersion and more lodge time
  • Pace: Full days, quicker transitions, core highlights only

4-Day Tour

EXPERIENCE: Full Amazon Journey

Happy travelers on a small-group Amazon River boat tour at sunset, one of the most popular rainforest experiences

The most balanced option, with the same core highlights plus more space to settle in and go deeper.

  • Day 1: Travel in, canoe to the lodge, settle in, first wildlife outing
  • Day 2: Forest walk, river exploration, wildlife spotting, night activity

traditional ceremony shaman healing ecuador amazonia tucan lodge

The slowest version, with more time to linger, revisit places, and enjoy still moments in the amazon river.

  • Day 1: Travel in, canoe to the lodge, settle in, first wildlife outing
  • Day 2: Forest walk, river exploration, wildlife spotting, and lodge downtime
  • Day 3: Community visit with shared meal and deeper local connection
  • Day 4:Silent paddling in a traditional rowing canoe and slower exploration
  • Day 5: One last slow morning in the forest, then return out

What’s the same for all tours

undeniably our signature moments.

The Pier Becomes a Playground

After the day's activities, everyone ends up at the pier. Pier jumps, SUP boards, and a game of dirty Jenga that gets way too competitive.

Guides Grew Up by the River

Carlos, Eduardo, Stalin, Gliver, and Fernando grew up in the amazon, and it shows in the specific and occasionally ridiculous ways that matter most.

Chocolate & Coffee From Where It Grows

This experience is hands-on, simple, and rooted in the community tradition. You make your own chocolate and coffee from beans to cup.

Raw Nature, Real Wildlife

No wildlife sightings are promised which makes every sighting feel earned. You see pink dolphins and other wildlife at the most unexpected moments.

One Chef and She is Undefeated

Several guests have spent their final hours at the lodge standing in that kitchen asking for recipes, which was not something they planned for.

Nights You Don’t Want to End

From kayaking and hiking to spotting wildlife and visiting local communities, the days stay are long. But nights are longer with our home-brewed cold ``Happy Gringo`` beer.

No Wi-Fi but Better Connection

There’s no reception here, but its on purpose. You have personal conversations that last longer and without blue-rays.

Bathrooms With Jungle Views

Yes, really. Possibly the most peaceful place you’ll ever pee. (Pun intended!)

Amazing place in the jungle. Tucan offers early morning tours often with bord watching, then two longer day tours and followed by a night tour where you often walk through the jungle. In other Words they make sure you have the best jungle experience!
The food is amazing and all staff is great! The rooms are well taken care of in order to ensure a well deserved night of sleep after an exiting day!

Tucán Lodge will forever hold a very special place in my heart. I wanted to visit the Amazon jungle but I never expected an experience like the one I had at Tucán.
From the moment we arrived we were taken care of. Our guide Gilver had such a contagious passion for the jungle and his knowledge of everything from the plants to the animals was truly impressive. He seems to really
hold the spirit of the jungle in him.
The food as well I could go on and on about how delicious it was, the chefs are something else, their talent is unmatched the way they can create such incredible dishes with all locally sourced ingredients.
Everything about this place is amazing and I couldn’t recommend it enough, I urge anyone thinking about booking with Tucán Lodge to do it, and however many days you’re thinking of going add one more.

I dont even know where to begin explaining the experience I had with Tucan lodge. From the moment I booked my trip I felt supported and taken care of. My friend and I were supposed to take the public bus there but missed it and Tucan was able to put us on the private bus truly last minute.

The food we were given was mouth watering, filling and prepared you for a day hiking, kayaking, canoeing and relaxing in the many chill spots they had at the Lodge. Our guide, Gilvert had an eye for wildlife and a passion that infected the whole group. Any question we had, he answered, and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and at home. He was part of what made this experience so amazing.

I stayed in the shared dorms and I have never slept better! Falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle and waking up to the birds was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I do not have enough good things to say about my time at Tucan lodge and urge anyone considering booking with them to just do it. You will not regret it and you'll wish you booked a longer tour.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the chefs, the canoe drivers, Gilvert, and everyone else behind the scenes making Tucan lodge such an incredible place. I will never forget my time here.

The experience at Tukan Lodge in Cuyabeno was one of the best of my life.
I had an incredible time with my guide, Eduardo, who introduced me to a whole new world and led many amazing activities, including:
- searching for wildlife
- swimming in the lagoon and river
- night hikes through the Amazon rainforest
- visiting an indigenous community
- preparing cacao and coffee beans
- kayaking
The food and accommodation were excellent, and everything was very well organized.
Leaving this incredible place after four days was really hard—I would have loved to stay longer! 🌿🛶🐒

Few experiences in my life have truly impressed me the way Tucan Lodge did. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was something special. Nestled in a breathtaking stretch of the Amazon rainforest, the scenery feels almost surreal, like something out of a documentary rather than real life. Considering the lodge is located in such a remote part of the jungle, I was genuinely surprised by how well-maintained and comfortable the rooms are. Every detail is thoughtfully cared for. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome; ensuring every request is met with warmth and professionalism. Also, they brew their own local beer right at the lodge — and it’s fantastic. Beyond the exceptional hospitality, Tucan Lodge offers an incredible range of activities, so there’s never a dull moment. We opted for a tailor-made experience and embarked on a two-day jungle trek deep into a rarely explored area of the Amazon. It was an unforgettable adventure that felt truly off the beaten path. I cannot recommend Tucan Lodge highly enough. It’s a rare place that exceeds expectations in every way. I only wish more people could experience this extraordinary corner of the world for themselves.

Incredible experience! Many delicious vegetarian options, and the staff is incredibly attentive 24/7. Plenty of well organized activities and plenty of opportunities to see animals. If you have Stalin as your guide, you're in luck!! he's amazing! His wisdom and his way of understanding and explaining the jungle are incredible. Thank you so much!

Amazing experience! The lodge is a bit further away than some other lodges which makes it feel more secluded. The accommodation is well maintained. We slept in the jungle suite, which was beautiful. The food also was really good and varied everyday. All activities were amazing as well. Highly recommended!

Tucán Lodge is a lodge in the heart of Cuyabeno National Park, located on the Cuyabeno River. It offers comfortable rooms. I stayed in a private suite and highly recommend it for its comfort and the fact that you have a view of the rainforest the entire time. The staff is very helpful and friendly. And, importantly, it's a business run by people from the same area. I highly recommend it.
A magnificent Amazonian experience at Toucan Lodge for Christmas 2025!
Carlos, our guide, was invaluable in his explanations and especially in locating caimans and other jungle animals with his keen eye. 😉 The evening of December 24th was memorable, and there's a wonderful overall atmosphere at Toucan Lodge—serene and caring, thanks to the attentive staff. Highly recommended.

Tucán Lodge is a beautiful place surrounded by nature and tranquility. Everyone was very kind and attentive to us. The lodge is lovely and has everything you need. Thanks to our guide Stalin for showing us the wonders of Cuyabeno and thanks to the community for protecting nature and allowing us to continue visiting these beautiful places. We will definitely return.

Fernando was an amazing guide, and our boat driver James was awesome as well. We saw so many insects, animals, and birds. There were only 2 of us and so the last day he even catered to our interests and we went and found a poison dart frog! Amazing food as well for all 4 days there, everything is delicious and well balanced and they have vegetarian options if you want them. Stayed in dorm and it was cozy. It's and eco-lodge so they're almost entirely natural and net-0 with energy and waste.

This is an AMAZING eco lodge in the middle of the wilderness. We did the 3N 4D tour and it was perfect, we only wished it was longer! Great wildlife viewing and our guide, Fernando, was extremely passionate, engaging and skilled at spotting lots of creatures. For example, we were able to see caiman, anacondas, pink dolphins, so many different species of birds and monkeys (including tucans and the harpy eagle!!), a baby bat, a sloth, tarantulas, scorpions and more!!
We had delicious - always different - meals served to us three times daily. The lodge was very nice and our private hut was so comfortable with hot water and electricity. (There’s no phone reception at all the entire time you’re there, and we loved it!) Our days were packed full of activities and this made you feel like you were getting your money’s worth! We went out on the canoe several times, hiking (and at night, one of my favorites.. we saw so many creepy crawlies!), went to a nearby village, met a shaman, made yucca bread, coffee and chocolate all from scratch.
My husband and I made several new friends, tried *and enjoyed* new foods, observed so many animals in their natural habitats, went swimming in a lagoon and more. I cannot recommend this experience enough, it was hands down my favorite part of our South American backpacking trip.

Absolutely amazing experience. The lodge is nice, not too big and they cater to any diet. We had amazing vegetarian food. All the activities felt very authentic and you could feel it hasn't been ruined by too much tourism yet. Stalin, our guide was very knowledgable and kind and he showed us so many cool things! We saw river dolphins, several species of monkeys, birds, insects and even snakes! So cool!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing 4-Day Jungle Adventure!

I had an incredible experience on this 4-day jungle tour. Everything was well-organized from start to finish, and our guide Byron was absolutely outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile. He made the entire experience feel safe, fun, and truly unforgettable.

Each day was filled with exciting activities: hiking through the rainforest, spotting wildlife, canoeing, and learning about local plants, traditions, and the way of life in the jungle. The scenery was breathtaking, and I felt completely immersed in nature the entire time.

The accommodation and meals were surprisingly comfortable for being deep in the jungle, and the whole team made sure everyone felt welcome and well taken care of.

This tour exceeded my expectations in every way. If you’re looking for a real jungle experience with great people and an amazing guide like Byron, I highly recommend this 4-day tour!

If you want it more enthusiastic, shorter, or more formal, I can adjust it!

We had an unforgettable stay at Tucan Lodge in Cuyabeno. The whole team was very friendly, helpful, and respectful of nature, which made us feel comfortable and at home. The service was excellent, and they made sure that if there was anything we didn’t like, we felt free to say something.

Our guides, Gilver and Carlos, were fantastic. Both had a great sense of humor and so much knowledge about the jungle, the wildlife, and the local culture. Thanks to them, every activity was fun, educational, and truly special.

Overall, Tucan Lodge gave us an amazing experience that we will never forget. Highly recommended!

My friends and I had the most amazing experience! We saw so many beautiful animals and spent time hiking and swimming in the jungle. This lounge had the perfect mix of activities and free time to explore the grounds near by and do swimming off the dock. Our tour guide Carlos was fantastic and did a great job at talking about the animals and trees as well as encouraging us to have fun and be a little crazy. The other staff was amazing as well and was super helpful with any requests we had. I would definitely come here again!!

A perfect place for solo travelers like myself to visit! This is the newest lodge in the area so all of the buildings are super nice. The staff are all local people and know so much about the area. I learned so much about the jungle, animals and community there. The night spend at the lake during sunset was absolutely stunning. The food that they serve is delicious and they're super accommodating to veggies and vegans! This place is filled with great people and you'll definitely have a good time if you go! Highly recommend!

I highly recommend this place to everybody who wants to experience the Ecuadorian part of the Amazone. The people at the lodge are all local. The tour guides are so knowledgeable about the area. The staff at this lodge is very kind and they make you feel like home. You can feel that everything they do is coming from the heart. You get 3 meals a day, which are amazing and various. The bread is freshly baked everyday. They also have free coffee, tea and hot chocolate during the day. And don’t forget to ask about the salsa sauce. The activities are interesting and give you a real Amazon experience. Keep up the good work guys and may we’ll meet again!

Everything was terrific! We were out there with one of the two local owners, Gilver, who shared a ton of interesting information, was extremely knowledgeable and had excellent English. I also briefly met Carlos, who was mentioned in other reviews and he seemed to know his stuff too but I ultimately can't speak to that. He is a local from the jungle though so I can't imagine him being ill informed about anything.
I can only recommend them, beds, food, facilities, everything was comfortable and we felt extremely relaxed.

Wanna go to the jungle but don’t know where to exactly? This is the place.
We had an amazing and exciting time here.

The food is GREAT (also the veggie options!), the staff is very friendly & welcoming and the guides know simply everything about jungle wildlife.
You’ll be able to see a lot of different animals and plants while hiking or being in the canoe. You’ll be able to go for a swim in the lagoon while sunset. If you like, you can even sleep in the hammock in the jungle close to the Lodge. And you will learn SO MUCH about animals and life of the people in the jungle.

We miss it already. Go for it and have a great time!
